Footer

Footers give users further options when they have reached the end of a page. This includes directions to other parts of the website, contact information, and links to social media. GEM's footer options are responsive, stacking according to different screen sizes.

Global footer

The global footer appears on all of Macquarie University's web pages. It includes a directory to key areas of the website, high-level contact details, and social media links.

Global footer

Marketing footer

This streamlined footer appears on pages that exist specifically for marketing purposes, such as landing pages for social or EDM campaigns. It focuses on engagement, providing contact details and social media links.

Best practice

Usage

As a rule, the global footer should be used on all web pages. The exception is one-off pages that only require the information in the marketing footer.

Brand elements

Footers always contain the Macquarie University logo to reinforce our branding.

Site links

Links in the footer give users a quick overview of the Macquarie University website. This helps them find other content that may not be directly linked to the subject of the page.

Social media buttons

Placing social media buttons in the footer gives users somewhere to go next, without directing them away from the page mid-way through reading it.
